Author Bio
French Fry Heaven relates to the child in me, which, as a 21-year-old, was not so long ago. Growing up in a country with unstable electricity and no cell phones for kids our age, my siblings and I would play with the neighborhood kids and invent stories about how we would save the world. We didn't have much, but time and imagination were some of the things we had. However, I never came up with a story this good until Scott and I worked together.
Co-writing "French Fry Heaven" with my amazing partner is one of the best experiences I've had so far. Scott and I met to discuss turning his book Peace Frog into a movie script. We talked and threw around ideas until it became apparent that we had to work together on our own project, so we collaborated on French Fry Heaven. Never in my life did I think my first book would be written with an "old guy" (his words) from Florida, but we just connected and shared a common hope for the world and a personal connection.

Our book is a vibrant exploration of character development, relationships, and unique narrative voices, enriched with themes of mental health, LGBTQ+ identity, diversity, religion, and love. Set in present-day America, this culturally and neuro-diverse tale features a cast of relatable characters, including:
Huey, a proud, “Asian skater girl” and our lead narrator, is fun and funny yet full of self-doubt, she will connect directly with any audience. Sage, the emotionless protector who finds unexpected warmth in Lizzy, a devout missionary whose faith provides solace and even miraculous interventions; Peace, a brilliant lesbian scientist and parkour expert who believes in world peace; Payton, a hidden genius; Schwabby, a tech-savvy wit battling depression; and Mike, the comedic relief whose antics always lighten the mood.
The story unfolds when Huey wakes up with simple worries about breakfast and her name, only to find herself and her six best friends amidst a whirlwind of chaos—mind-controlled armies, kidnappings, and even french fry catapults. As they unearth a nefarious plot involving tainted fry recipes that enslave customers, Huey and her friends must leverage their skills in hacking, parkour, chemistry, and creativity to save their town, her parents, and possibly the world.
French Fry Heaven combines the gripping, high-stakes action and camaraderie of Six of Crows with the atmospheric, emotionally complex world-building of The Raven Boys. Much like these stories, French Fry Heaven showcases flawed but compelling characters who learn to grow and rely on one another as they face powerful forces. The characters’ bonds evolve, and through their struggles, they discover the strength in unity and change.
