The People Who Know Best

Kathryn

The entirety of Sage’s story was my favorite. When he is finally given the chance to be reunited with his grandparents, I teared up. His friendship with Lizzie was so special, and the juxtaposition of this tiny girl befriending this massive steamroller with a temper was so touching. Sage easily won my heart from start to finish. I think my favorite moment with him was when he crashed in to save Lizzie because he asked God to let him handle it this time. So amazing!

Another thing these books did excellently, in my opinion, was dispel stereotypes. I was really amazed by the diversity of the “cast” and for the most part, I think each character was defined by their personality more than they were by just their identity.

The book was really good and I really liked it! I liked the ending, but I don’t know if she died or not? And I really liked the gay characters you made. I was sad about Sage, even though he wasn’t my favorite character. Mikey was my favorite character because he was funny and cute. The story is interesting and not confusing. 10/10!

Peace Frog, it’s amazing, and to be honest, it was hard to put down. Some of my favorite parts were Corazon (shit, that guy is scary as hell), the love scene between Peace and Jen, the dirt bike race through the bayou, Sage saving his friends, the realistic ending, and of course, the hilarious parts that brought some lightness. The imagery is there; the characters have depth, and I absolutely love that the ending left the reader to imagine.

What I appreciate most is the diverse cast, people coming from all walks of life with different struggles and points of view. It’s easy to find yourself in a cast like this and to identify with a character.

I loved every second of reading these books. To say that they are well done is an understatement—such a brilliant story & world. I felt that each character was unique, well-constructed, and complex, the storylines struck a perfect balance between lighthearted, sentimental, and determined.

The ending left me with my jaw slack and eyes wide. If this was the reaction you were hoping for, you nailed it!

Be Social & Think!

The Peace Strain’s Crew of the Flying Hookahs are non-binary thinkers in a world of YA fiction and found family adventures. Even though nearly all discussions have only two sides, the world we live in now is fueled by the belief that there are only two views on existence. We imagine a world of coexistence based on all views, where decisions like relationships, friendships, and romance are informed by more than just option A or option B. So let’s think together. World peace is within our grasp.

These are books made for readers who love binge-worthy YA adventures filled with unforgettable characters and diverse voices they can root for. I thank you for helping me add something great to the world, by reading, sharing, and passing these stories along to your friends.
